Dear Environmental Services Customer,
As you know, the COVID-19 Pandemic has changed the lives of everyone, and most people are eager for a return to normalcy. Recognizing the financial challenges that people were facing, in May of this year, North Fayette Township placed a moratorium on the collection of late fees and suspended water service termination.
Over the past few weeks as restrictions have been lifted by Governor Wolf and counties throughout the Commonwealth progressed through the Wolf Administration’s reopening plan, many people have returned to work or are working from home. Following the precedent of other municipalities and municipal authorities, at their Regular Meeting on August 25, 2020, the Board of Supervisors decided to lift the moratorium on late fees and water service termination.
Upon receiving direction from the Board, staff has prepared the following transition plan. Effective September 10, 2020, an amnesty period will open for customers who have outstanding balances. This amnesty period will continue through October 10, 2020. You will have the opportunity to pay any outstanding balance owed without accumulated penalty and interest charges.
Effective October 12, 2020, late fees and interest will be applied to all accounts with outstanding balances and late notices will be mailed out. Effective October 26, 2020 accounts with outstanding balances will be subject to termination notice and will be posted. Termination of Service will commence on November 10, 2020.
Please be advised that new charges for service applied on September 10, 2020 will follow pre-pandemic policy and procedure and will be subject to the terms outlined on the back of the bill. If you should have any questions regarding this policy or procedure, please contact Customer Service at 724-693-9601.
