Per the Governor’s Order, all construction activities throughout the Commonwealth have been suspended, except for construction activities related to healthcare facilities and emergency repairs to residential and commercial structures, unless a waiver has been granted by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).

Except for construction activities related to healthcare facilities and emergency repairs to commercial and residential structures, the following is suspended until further notice:

  • All UCC Building Code Inspections of permitted activities by Township Staff;
  • All Land Development Inspections of permitted activities by Township Staff and/or Township Engineer;
  • All Fire Prevention Inspections by Township Staff;
  • Acceptance of new Building, Fire Prevention, and Zoning Permit applications;
  • Acceptance of Zoning Hearing Board Applications (including variance applications);
  • Issuance of permits and approvals for previously submitted applications may be delayed until further notice;
  • Code enforcement requests will be prioritized to those items impacting the safety of citizens and physical property.
  • If a construction project has received a waiver through DCED to continue work on the project, a copy of the waiver must be provided to the Township. Approved waivers can be emailed to commdev@north-fayette.com. Applications and inspections will continue of construction projects that have been granted a waiver.  Waivers can be applied for on the DCED website.

Questions regarding the waiver process, or whether a business or activity is subject to the Governor’s Order must be directed to the State.

During regular business hours, please call the inspection hotline at (724) 693-3125 to schedule the inspection of construction activities related to healthcare facilities, emergency repairs to commercial and residential structures, and construction projects which have received a waiver from DCED.

For an emergency situation after regular business hours requiring an inspection, please call the Police Department at (412) 787-8900.

The Zoning Hearing Board meeting scheduled for April 23, 2020, has been canceled.

At this time the Department is continuing to accept land development applications for the upcoming Planning Commission meeting scheduled for April 21, 2020. However, this meeting is subject to cancellation.

Interested parties are encouraged to check the Township website for continued updates regarding Department policies and the status of meetings.
