March 17, 2020 Message to Residents Video - Transcribed Script

Hi, I’m J.R. Mangan, representing the Board of Supervisors here at North Fayette Township.

As you know the township, like every other business or government office in the country, is doing everything possible to limit the spread of this Coronavirus.

At North Fayette, we’ve temporarily closed our community center and are restricting public access to municipal buildings and offices to safeguard our staff and their families as well as our residents and the general public.

Business is normal here at North Fayette by phone. If you need to drop off a payment, we have a drop off box in our lobby that’s available at all hours of the day and evening.

None of us have been through anything quite like this and things have been changing very quickly. The township is following all recommendations from Federal, State, and County officials, and we’re working together with other local municipalities and experts to keep everyone safe. We very much appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

This is a personal message for residents of North Fayette and the West Allegheny community. If you know someone in your neighborhood that perhaps doesn’t have family members, that might be alone or have some underlying medical condition, just reach out by knocking on their door and asking if everything is ok or by making a phone call.

Here at North Fayette, we welcome you to feel free to call the 412-787-8900 non-emergency number. I’m sitting here in our Dispatch Center right now; we still have our own dispatch here at North Fayette. A local person answers the phone here 24/7. I know a lot of folks feel "I don’t want to call the police, I don’t want lights and sirens, I don’t want all of the commotion”. That’s not the case here. We’re in some difficult times and it’s okay to call the police. We offer many, many services, whether it be for vacation home checks and business checks, we’ve always done it and this here, we’re reaching out, our police department wants you to reach out to folks that might need help. Also, North Fayette will do everything possible to keep our residents safe. We will continue to provide information about Coronavirus and the Township response by regularly updating our website and our Facebook page.

Thanks again for your understanding and your cooperation. Stay safe and remember to keep your neighbors safe as well. Take care.
