Western Allegheny Community Library Tech Takeout Collection

Library Logo

Western Allegheny Community Library is now offering “Tech Takeout” - a smorgasbord of gadgets, gizmos, and tools for you to take home (and bring back when you’re done, of course!). In addition to already popular items like WiFi hotspots, GoPro Hero Camera, and Nintendo Classic Consoles, they've recently added even more cool items for taking out and taking home, including four Roku Devices (complete with a free subscription to Netflix), a Radon Detector, and a Portable DVD Player for on the go or even on the road enjoyment (for those in the back seat of course, not the driver!).

New to the menu!

For 2019, three new items have been added to the Tech Takeout menu. First is a portable Voice Amplifier with lapel mic, perfect for being heard better in a classroom or for a presentation. Second, a weatherproof Trail Camera, which can capture HD video daytime or nighttime, with motion-sensitive activation for watching wildlife or for security purposes. Last but not least is a Diagnostic Code Reader. Plug it in to your car to determine what that pesky “check engine” light is all about. With live vehicle sensors and graphic interface, this does more than generate an error code - it can help you fix it! You’d probably only need to use these items once or once in a while, so like with all of the Tech Takeout items: Why buy when you can try? Check their online catalog at for availability of these and other Tech Takeout items, or call the library at 724-695-8150 to place a hold. Tech Takeout items must be checked out and returned at the front desk at WACL only; checkout length and procedures vary by device.
