Have you considered purchasing your first firearm? Do you own a firearm and are unsure how to properly and safely use, clean, and store it? Would you like to shoot a firearm in an educational and safe environment? If so, the ladies firearms class just might be for you!
This program is geared towards teaching those wanting to learn how to safely own a firearm or those wanting an introduction to firearms. It will cover such things as basic firearms types, proper handling, storage options, safety principles, basic maintenance, and liability concerns. The course will begin with classroom time and will be followed with live fire of firearms on the range!
This course will by run by North Fayette Township Sergeant Michael Hayes, Corporal Mark Kern, and will be assisted by other members of the police department and volunteers. This year the class (same class for each date) will be held on Saturday May 11, 2019 and Saturday June 8, 2019.
The day begins at the North Fayette Township Community Center upstairs banquet room (580 Donaldson Road, Oakdale) at 9:00am with instruction that lasts for 1-1.5 hours. From there we move to the firing range on Donaldson Road, around a half mile away.
All firearms and ammunition will be provided, but if you have a firearm you would like to shoot, bring it with you and you can use it after the initial class. Feel free to bring along your husband, boyfriend, etc., as they can hang out at the range with us. Coffee and donuts are provided in the morning and we will be cooking lunch at the range. We are normally finished between 1:00 and 3:00 pm, but if you need to leave earlier please let us know that day and we will arrange to have you shoot first.
The cost for the course is $20 and payable that day. Cash or check only, please.
