MS4 Stormwater Improvements

North Fayette Township has a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit that is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PaDEP). The current permit was issued in 2018. As part of this permit, the Township is required to implement its Pollution Reduction Plan (PRP), which was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2017.  The PRP intends to reduce the amount of sediment reaching the waters of the commonwealth and reduce the erosion of these streams within two watersheds: Montour Run and Robinson Run. From 2020 to 2023, the Township completed several projects to meet the requirements of the PRP. In 2023 the total construction for the projects completed via private contractors was $628,000; the two grants received were $173,250 (from the Allegheny County Gaming, Economic Development, Tourism Fund grant) and $70,125.00 (from the PaDEP Growing Greener Grant Fund).
