P.A.L.S.
SUMMER PROGRAM BEGINS FRIDAY, JUNE 8TH AT DONALDSON COMMUNITY PARK
We are the P.A.L.S. (Providing Assistance, Love, & Support) Group, and have identified a need to have regularly structured recreational programs for our citizens with special needs.
According to 2009 statistics from the PA Department of Education the West Allegheny School District reported a total of 15% of enrolled students as having a disability. While there are many opportunities for students with special needs to participate in school-based activities, there is a growing need for more community-based opportunities to help our special needs population grow, live, and continue to thrive as independent and productive members of our communities.
P.A.L.S. kick-off event took place in September 2010; with over 100 people attending, what will become our annual family picnic. P.A.L.S. now offers a Friday night recreational program that allows participants to learn and enjoy different sports including soccer, basketball, floor hockey, dodge ball and more. West Allegheny teams and coaches who help instruct our kids included Girls Soccer, Girl’s Basketball, WA Roller Hockey and the WA Football team.
Special events are organized throughout the year and include a summer family picnic, a Halloween party, Christmas party, Easter egg hunt, summer swim party and more.

Ways to Help P.A.L.S.
P.A.L.S. relies on many donations to help make its programs a success. Fundraisers are scheduled to include a snowflake sale during the Holidays as local businesses are solicited to sell $2 snowflakes for display in their businesses. A golf outing is slated for August at Quick Silver Golf Club and a banquet that would honor inductees into a West Allegheny Hall of Fame with proceeds benefitting P.A.L.S. is in the planning stages. In addition, local restaurants will donate proceeds on certain days with the community’s participation.
Your tax deductible contribution can be made by writing a check to North Fayette Township and writing P.A.L.S. on the memo line.
