- The North Fayette Township Police would like to inform you of the latest
Scams involving your credit cards or stolen purse.
- Scam 1. This latest scam involves taking a picture of your credit card
information as you use your card at a check out line with a picture phone.
- As you stand in line using your credit card be aware of the individual
standing next to you using a picture cell phone! This individual may
be taking a picture of your credit card. They then have all the information
they need to use your card without your knowledge. After taking the picture
they will begin using the information to make internet purchases depleting
your account. Protect Yourself and be aware that the person next to
you using the cell phone may be trying to take a picture of your credit
card!

- Scam 2. Involves your stolen purse.
- If your purse is stolen you may receive a call from someone identifying
themselves as fraud investigators from your card company informing you of
irregular card use. They will advise you to cancel the card or they could
cancel the card for you if you provide the PIN and your Social Security
number. Do Not provide them with this information. If you do so they
are free to use your card at will. They can also open various credit cards
and credit loan applications using your name and Social Security number.
